Mexico Gold Cup Semifinals: Convincing Win Over Honduras

Honduras Defeated 3-0

Mexico Advances to Semifinals

Mexico cruised into the Gold Cup semifinals on Saturday after a convincing 3-0 win over Honduras in the quarterfinals. The Mexican team scored all three of their goals in the first half, taking a commanding lead that Honduras was unable to overcome.

Mexico's first goal came in the 13th minute, when Henry Martin headed in a cross from Hirving Lozano. Uriel Antuna then doubled Mexico's lead in the 21st minute, with a powerful shot from outside the box. Mexico's third goal came in the 31st minute, when Martin scored his second of the game, again assisted by Lozano.

Honduras had a number of chances to get back into the game in the second half, but they were unable to find the back of the net. Mexico's defense held strong, and goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa made several key saves to preserve the shutout.

Mexico will now face Costa Rica in the semifinals on Wednesday in Houston. Costa Rica advanced to the semifinals with a 2-0 win over the United States on Sunday.
