Nicola has a history of success in Serie A, most notably leading Crotone to a surprise ninth-place finish in 2016/17, as well keeping them in the league the following season. He was also able to save Genoa from relegation during his one season at the club and guiding Torino to a ninth-place finish in 2020/21.
